Most often, the firm's own staff (associate-partner) run the recruiting process. The first interview might be done by a regional recruiter, but everything after that is the staff.
Having that said, you must understand that associate-partner levels have not been trained to interview. It might be as uncomfortable for them as for you at the start of the interview. Try to keep the interviewer at ease and comfortable throughout your conversations.
General Rule: For second interviews, don't talk more than 45% of the time. Have several really good questions about the firm that can turn into fun/interesting conversations.
