How soon did you find out (good or bad) from the Big 4 after your 2nd round interviews?

If I understand correctly, if all 4 of them heavily recruit on campus, they usually have an agreement that they could only give out offers after a specific date (to give time for all candidates to interview).  So even if your interview was 2 weeks before this deadline, they would not be able to give you an offer until it has passed (which is nerve-racking).

From what I have heard, when people sent in 'Thank You' emails,  and if they heard back from the them saying 'good job on your interview' or 'you will be hearing from us soon' or the like, it usually was good news.

However, if they did not receive a response or or one that just said 'good luck' or 'it was nice meeting you', then they got the bad news afterwards.

So really the deadline agreement with the firms are followed but really can be tweaked so you have a good idea of what's to come.

Thoughts? Comments?

I really don't know how true it is about them having an agreement about not giving out offers until a certain date.  I go to school in Miami and all the Big 4 recruit heavily at my school.  Ernst and Young was the last to interview on Oct 16th but they gave us office vist invites on Oct 20th. We had our pre-interview social and office visit on Oct 29th and 30th before any of the other Big 4.  And I got an offer Nov 2nd.  The others are just doing office visits this week and next even though they interview 1-1.5 weeks ahead of EY.

With the thank you emails, you just never know. My interviewer on campus from EY responded the next day but the one from Deloitte never responded.  I still got both office visits.  I guess it really depends on the person doing the interview.

Yeah, at my school there was a certain date only after which can they
make offers or office visits. In the same manner they are required to leave
offers on the table until a specific date to give time for everyone to do
second round visits and make a decision.

As for hearing after the second round. I've heard a variety of things. Some
of my friends heard the night of others a week later. Some firms, I think
maybe the bigger offices, will have multiple weeks that they will have
office visits so sometimes firms will wait until they've actually had all the
candidates in before making any offers at all. So if you don't hear for a
week it might be the case that there is another group of kids visiting the
office this week, etc. In my case, I haven't heard yay or nay for 3 weeks. I
even spoke to the recruiter and was told that I should hear shortly. I'm
beyond nervous, lol, I really don't expect to hear any positive news, but
who knows! It's not over until you get a rejection, so I still have a little
hope.

At my school, they had that kind of agreement too. I was notified on the date of agreement, but I've heard people being notified several days after that. So if you don't hear back the first day, don't feel discouraged. As long as you don't get a rejection email, there's still a chance.

As far as replies to thank you emails. From what I've heard, if they say "best of luck in the future" or something along those lines, it's probably not the best response. After my 2nd round interviews, the managers/partners responded pretty kindly to my thank you emails. Most of the time it was short, but I could tell it was more than just the customary "nice meeting you good luck" type of response. I felt pretty good about how it went and my chances after receiving replies. With that said, I did get a "good luck in your future" after one of my 1st rounds, and still got 2nd rounds. So I guess you never really know.

I interviewed on the 30th and found out on Nov. 2nd, just like someone else up there. However, I didn't get a second round invite for this interview until a week after the first, so as long as you don't get a rejection email... it's all good.
