Hello all, I'm a student at the University of
Connecticut. If I'm recruited by a Big 4 will I have no
choice but to work at the office which recruits there?

What decisions can I make now, to avoid working out of
the Hartford offices? I really desire working out of New
York City, even if it means passing a big 4 opportunity
in favor of a medium or small tier firm.

Will I have to transfer to a New York state college?
Can I negotiate for this in the job offer?
Are interns given a choice of office on the application?
Would you recommend I earn my MAcc and CPA title in New
York?

I've lived in the hills of Connecticut for too long! I
appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

You can work anywhere you ask to, although you're going to have get in touch with the other office recruiters and hope they need people.  I went to college in Boston, but did a sophomore leadership program in Philly, then interned in Boston, and will be starting full-time in Boston.  The biggest thing is JUST MAKE YOUR DESIRE KNOWN.  You must let them know as soon as possible where you want to work, and they expect you to work full-time in whichever city you interned in.

Thanks ryrob, that helps a lot. Good luck to you in your
new position at Boston!
