Here's my situation.
I'm interning this summer with one of the Big 4 Firms in an early outreach
program and am going into my Senior Year. I will be CPA eligible 2013
and as a result I will be getting an offer at the end of this summer for
another internship next summer.
The catch is, the offer will come in early August. I really wanted to go
through Fall Recruiting and check out the other 3 firms as I am not really
sure if the firm i'm at is where I should be, but the offer acceptance
deadline for my firm will expire before fall recruiting even starts!
What should I do? Would it be horrible to explain to my recruiter that I
want to learn about the other firms to make a more educated decision? Do
you think they would give me an offer deadline extension so that I could
go through fall recruiting normally with the rest of my peers?

Why do you want to see what the other firms are like? Is it just out of curiosity or is it because you don't like your current firm? If it's the former, I would just accept the offer for internship and be happy you even got one. The "culture" of the firms really don't vary that much and neither does the work. Public accounting is public accounting. You'll find employees from every single one of the Big 4 firms complain how much their company sucks. At the same time, you'll find employees from each of the four firms quite satisfied with where they are. Unless you have a really legitimate reason beyond curiosity, I wouldn't tell recruiters that you're declining your internship offer for a chance to explore other Big 4. It might be different if you were currently interning at a national or regional firm, and want the chance to recruit for a Big 4 position. But jumping around at this point in your career has almost no benefit. Now if you want to switch firms after a few years of experience, that's a completely different story.

My main reason for wanting to explore other firms is this:
My firm is easily the smallest of the Big 4 in my city and only really has a few
BIG name audit clients. A few of the other firms seem to dominate in terms
of their clientele basis, and I want to explore getting the chance to work with
more big name clients. In the long run, does the size/reputation of the
clients you are working on contribute much to how your professional career
goes?

It does actually, the bigger the clients, the better the odds are that you will face more complex or specific issues and therefore have "better" experience. This can be valuable when looking for a position at one of these big companies in private or even when making a move to another Big 4 who serves those clients. They all seem to like specialized experience.
