It does help some... but it is tough no matter how much experience you have. I have been working for about 3 years in public accounting. I think my experience has made it easier in some areas. I have heard people say that "CPA" stands for "Couldn't Pass Again".
One other thing to consider is that many states have a requirement to have a certain amount of experience.
I think there is also a certain amount of benefit from taking it as soon as possible after you graduate. You may be able to remember more.
