I think it's better to only study for one exam at the time. Most of us space our exams 6-7 weeks apart so that we can test twice in 1 window.
The biggest concern in spreading exams out further is the 18 month expiration on each exam. Those 18 months come quick if you're struggling with a specific section.
The financial difference isn't huge in regards to spreading out your exams. I know in the state of Alabama there is a $50 re-application fee every time you submit an application. You save money in regards to the app fee by scheduling more than 1 at a time.
Another plus of taking exams closer together is you'll retain more material and surprise yourself in your studying. It's a good feeling.
