The only experience I have is that a friend hired a pro and received a resume that was of no higher quality than he could have prepared himself. He just didn't have to spend the time doing it. I know that there are great books that can help you prepare a quality resume, and probably multiple examples online. I have always favored preparing my own resume because I figure I know myself better than anyone else, and I have more at stake than anyone else when it comes to the resume quality.
