Since there are a lot of people looking for jobs at the moment, I am curious to see if there is anyway to get an idea of an interview result at the interview. Were there anything you observed during your interviews that gave you a clue as to the outcome? For me based on my interviews, I usually look at how it ends. For instance, if the interviewer tells you good luck or thanks for coming, that's usually bad. Or if they do not give you their business cards. A good interview usually ends with we will be in touch. But there are always exceptions. What have you guys noticed?

Yes the one I just interviewed today said he will call by Friday. But I don't want to work for them because they only have 1 CPA working in the WHOLE COMPANY. Couldn't believe it a publicly traded company too!
I have heard a lot of different things from employers though. Yes I agree with you especially on your perception. If they are a but hole I will not send them a thank you card for taking the time to see me.

I don't think there is anyway to know unless you get an offer on the spot. I have had 3 interviews where the person told me flat out that everyone gave me positive feedback or that they were very impressed with me. 2 of those I did not get an offer and 1 of them I did.
However, just because you don't get a complement doesn't mean you won't get the job, when I interviewed for the job I currently have, they were very reserved and said nothing, but quickly gave me an offer after the 2nd interview.
One thing I have noticed, is that smaller firms tend to move quickly on candidates they want, because they don't have to get authorization or approval in the budget or whatever. But bigger firms tend to move slow no matter what because of all the hoops they have to jump through to hire someone.
I have to disagree on the business card thing, because I got business cards in all my interviews except for the interview for the job I currently have. I think it's standard business etiquette to give a business card and if they don't give you one they probably just forgot.
