So I have an interview with a CPA Firm in the exact city I work in although they warn that the position is temporary with a "possibility of becoming permanent." I realize that this means in all likely hood I will be gone come May if I get the job unless they lose someone. I do not really care at this point. If I can find a month to month lease in that city I am gone!!
Just wondering if anyone else who cannot find a job has considered seasonal type jobs? What are your opinions / experiences with them? Obviously they would be bringing me in to slave me for tax season, but I am cool with that, I'm tired of reading these boards 18 hours a day.

I'm sure that is how it will go too, but like you said at least I'll have something on my resume. How long have yours lasted? I'm hoping for at least 3 months.

Tax season is 3.5 months (Jan-April 15). They won't fire you until tax season is over. So more than 3 months. And if they want you to start earlier than that, even more months and $

That was pretty much my impression as well. I figured at the worst 3 months, at the very best 4. Hey, maybe someone will get married and quit so I can stay, haha. Even with 3 months, I"ll only be 2 months shy of gaining my CPA license!!
Moving all my junk to another city an hour away will be a pain, but hey it really seems that gaining public accounting experience is hard to come by in the current economy and I want to build my resume. I know so many unemployed people. I feel good about this.
