I'm a senior in college, accounting major. I interviewed for fall recruiting and was not able to secure an internship so now I'm looking for any kind of full time work. I would like to find something with at least some kind of career prospects as opposed to a dead-end job like bookkeeping. What can I do with an accounting major? I'm having major regrets for majoring in accounting because while I enjoy it I can't seem to find a job that isn't public accounting (I wish I could find a job here!) or that doesn't require public accounting experience.
Please help.

I hate to say it but I think most people on here are in the exact same position as you. Most here have passed the exam or have some sort of an advanced degree and can't find work.

It's funny you should ask that. I posted a question about private accounting internships earlier today and got no response :(. Believe it or not but while the big 4 and regionals are wrapping up recruiting for summer interns, Internship programs haven't even begun to take on their summer class as yet! You do know that corporations hire summer interns in their Accounting and Finance Departments right? There are a TON of internship programs out there for undergraduate and graduate students.
