So I received an offer from a large CPA firm to start in the fall. I didn't
realize until a few months after I received the offer, however, that I had
mistakenly put the wrong GPA on my resume. The GPA I wrote on my
resume was 3.65, but my correct GPA is 3.57. It was an honest mistake
that resulted from a miscalculation on my part. I was wondering if you
think that if the firm caught this, it will result in me losing my job later on
or having the offer rescinded before I even start. The way I see it, it's only a
difference of .08, and whether it's 3.65 or 3.57, they're both above a 3.5,
which I know is an important threshold. Additionally, the firm requires you
to submit your transcript along with the resume, so they had all my grades
in front of them to analyze whichever way they pleased when they were
considering my application. Even in spite of all the reasons I just listed as
to why I think I have nothing to worry about, I can't help but obsess over all
the terrible things (dramatic, I know) that could come of it. All comments
are greatly appreciated.

It won't matter, IMO.

I have two thoughts...
If you don't tell them: They may never care to find out, or
If you do tell them: You can simply say that it wasn't an updated GPA, and that you are sorry for the mistake and would understand if they would like to reconsider their offer to you.
My point for the latter idea is that when they do realize the significance of the error, i.e. how small the difference in GPA, they won't really care?

It doesn't seem material to me. I'm sure you'll learn a lot about materiality in accounting if you haven't already.
