hey. So i managed to get through my first year at a big cpa firm. worked my butt off and got good evals, raise etc. however it took a toll, i aged like 7 years in 1 year and got very tense. i promised myself the next year would be easier. so i tried to make some decisions to give me some breathing room, the good old work life balance thing. as in: not gunning for big projects, sleeping more. but it seems like my performance is fading, as if, there's no middle ground between valued team member and dead weight.

at this point i really want to keep the job...good colleagues and the hours are really not that bad for the industry. but at this moment i don't think i can go back to those 70+ hr work weeks. :o any advice on surviving from those who have been there?

thanks
